Airedale Terrier 101
The Airedale Terrier is the largest of the terrier breed. They originated from Yorkshire, England and have for long been called the King of Terriers. They were bred to hunt otters in and around the River Aire, which runs through Airedale. In the United Kingdom, Airedale Terriers have also been used as police dogs. They are known for being a not aggressive but fearless breed of dogs.
Airedale Terrier Personality
Airedale Terriers are a loyal and devoted breed that are great for those who are willing to put in time and effort into raising a dog. They are not for the faint of heart and often require an owner who can laugh along with them. They enjoy having fun and love to be around families. So much so that they will often have separation anxiety if separated from family life. Airedale Terriers are intelligent, yet are not always obedient due to their stubborn nature, making them difficult to train at times. Fortunately, when Airedale Terriers get it right their love can as a rewarding gift as anything. They have a devoted following and there are numerous resources available for owners and potential owners.
Airedale Terrier Considerations
One thing to consider about Airedale Terriers is that they can potentially be very stubborn dogs. They were bred to hunt independently and thus can sometimes be strong-minded. This is why it is important to train them from an early age and make sure that they are always ready to follow commands. They also need to be socialized with other animals and children if they are to live with them.
