Pembroke Welsh Corgi 101
Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a herding dog breed that originated in Pembrokeshire, Wales. These dogs were preferred by the British royalty for more than seventy years and for sure still look quite regal themselves. They are extremely intelligent dogs. In fact, they have been ranked 11th by Stanley Coren in his book The Intelligence of Dogs. They have short legs, a sturdy appearance and an athletic built.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi are known to be very affectionate and love to be involved in all family affairs, whether it be eating dinner with the family, going on walks with the family, cuddling with the family, or following their family around whenever they can. They have a lot of eagerness to please their owners, which makes them easily trainable. They are very alert which makes them a great watchdog.
Pembroke Welsh Corgi Considerations
If not socialized from an early age, Pembroke Welsh Corgis can develop aggression and anti-social behavior towards other dogs and even children or other adults. Due to their herding instincts, they love to chase down other animals. Pembroke Welsh Corgis can suffer from a variety of health problems, including degerative myelopathy, hip dysplasia, and Von Willebrand’s disease if their parents suffered from the same diseases.
