Top 10 Medium Dog Breeds

The medium dog breeds are very popular because many consider them the exact sized dog that they want. While they’re not like our small dog breeds that melt everyone’s hearts for being little fluff-balls but also look extremely fragile and almost small enough to pack inside a handbag, they are also not as big as our large dog breeds that tend to be almost as tall as their humans. Usually, the medium dog breeds are dogs that add a little more substance than the small dog breeds but will not tip the scale entirely like the large dog breeds. Depending on who you talk to, there are a wide range of dogs that are included in the medium dog breeds category. Mostly, people will put dogs that are between twenty and sixty pounds in this category but really it depends and these are not the absolute limits. Depending on your own weight limits, you may be able to pick up the medium dog breed still (which is not usually possible with the large dog breeds).

Medium dog breeds appeal to people for a variety of reasons. First off, some people think that many of them are great partners in crime to their humans. They will go on jogs, runs and hikes with you and can swim in the river with you as well without as much ‘care’ needed to be taken as a small dog breed. Others like medium dog breeds because they are the perfect size for households with children. They’re not so small that you can run over them without knowing it. They’re also not so big that they will run over small children and unintentionally hurt them while playing.

Here is a list of some of the most common medium dog breeds that you will hear about in the dog community. Please keep in mind that there are more than one hundred medium dog breeds and this list is not comprehensive.
