KONG Tugger Knots Frog Dog Toy Review

Bunk chews tug toy

Tugger Knots are tough, interactive tug and shake toys that dogs love. Each toy has knotted ropes inside for a realistic feel, which extend outside the toy creating tug handles at both ends. The ropes are looped together to absorb tugging stress and are covered by a durable, double-ply plush body. Designed with minimal stuffing for minimal mess. This unique design creates a captivating variety of textures and resistance that dogs love with a squeaker inside for added fun! Available in two sizes (Small/Medium and Medium/Large) and come in four characters: Monkey, Frog, Lion and Moose.

Bunk the pug loves this toy because it has ropes on two sides. It is great for him to be able to hold on to it on one side and for us to tug at it from the other side. I think what is most enjoyable for him is that he can chew on the fluffy head of the toy while holding on to the toy with two paws. It works out great for a small pug like him!

On another note, I have read some Amazon reviews that say that this toy is not that durable and that dogs can chew through it in a matter of hours or even minutes. I have also read reviews of pit bulls pulling each other on this rope for hours on end and the toy withstanding this abusive treatment! It is said to have kept a bulldog who is known to tear everything up in a matter of days for an entire 2 months before it came apart. I think my pug is a lot weaker than most of these dogs despite the fact that he tries to act very strong and wild.

Bunk has chewed on this for over an hour and while the toy is very much a slobber mess right now, it is still standing tall against the pug wrath. Now Bunk is not the most  powerful chewer ever but he is quite powerful considering that he is only 17 pounds. I know he is a powerful chewer because he chews and bites off little pieces of furniture whether it be chair, table or couch. We bought him a similar Kong toy a couple of months ago that he shed into pieces only after a couple of hours of having it.

I don’t know how everyone else’s dog is and how long toys last but any toy that has lasted for more than one month in this household is a winner in my eyes. This toy has only been here an hour and so far it’s Bunk’s new favorite and he loves it! I am not sure how durable it is but if and when it is shredded into pieces I will write a little update so everyone knows how long it lasted!

Overall, this is a great little toy that is vibrant in color and keeps my pug occupied for a while (that’s always a good thing). I think it is entertaining for him and we can play many games of tug with it. I am not sure of the durability but it has held up really well so far!

  3. I suspect the poor reviews are from people who have dogs that like to pick at it rather than chew it. Looks like a fun toy my dogs would love.

  4. My name is Kitty and I am an aggressive chewer. There, I said it. Wonder if this one would last with me?? Sounds like it may have a chance at least. I LUV LUV LUV stuffies, but Mom says it has to last for one hour to be worth buying it. Liking the rope/stuffie combo. Keep us informed.
